It's A Girl!

Hey Y'all!

Well, this blog post is long OVERDUE! I have been busy, but busy in a good way! Last Wednesday, I picked up a car from a local dealership to drive around town for a few days. It turns out, this was THE car! Folks, as of last Saturday, I am no longer a Honda owner! Hello Mazda! My new car, is actually not brand spanking new, just new to me. I ended up getting a 2007 Mazda 3 Hatchback. Y'all. This car is so me! It has the interior room of my CR-V, but it drives so much better! I have been zipping around town and I am really enjoying the gas mileage too! The best part?? Besides it runs and works???? I have a SUNROOF, a six CD in dash changer, MP3 connection and air conditioning. I can even turn on the defroster without the threat of my car catching on fire. Whooo, hoooo!!!!

Meet Mitzi Mazda. This is not my Mitzi, but this is exactly what she looks like. I LOVE her! We have had quite a good time hanging out together. It was a little change to switch from the CR-V, but I just love driving her! The dealership where I bought her from gave me 3 years free oil changes and free washes on Saturday! They will also give me a loaner car when and if I need service. That is more than ANY Honda dealer EVER did for me! And y'all, believe me, I think I am going to be a Mazda owner forever. They are great cars!

My other new and exciting purchase? Well, actually it was free. I now have a BLACKBERRY! And, I now totally understand why folks are so addicted to them. I absolutely love it! If you have noticed my twitter feed on the right hand side of the blog, it has BLOWN UP in the past week. Let me just say, I do not know how I lived this long without this piece of technology. I am still figuring out a way to blog from my phone, so hopefully posts will be more plentiful! I can already tell you the capability to send photo's to Twitter and Facebook is just AWESOME! I also have some sweet apps that have made my life so much easier!!

Anyhoo, that is what I have been up to. I am also prepping for Mr. Pitty Pat's second birthday next week! My girls are also coming for a girls weekend next weekend, so there will be lots to celebrate! Yahoo!!!

Back to the Land of Being Healthy!

Hey Y'all,

Well last Wednesday it hit me. The almighty Strep Throat. And. I thought I was dying. You know what they say about phone calls in the middle of the night? Well, sore throats are like that too. I tried to ignore what was happening and went on to school Wednesday. By Wednesday afternoon I had a 101 fever and couldn't swallow. I had to go another whole night before I could call my doc and get antibiotics. It was not fun. The only time I remember being so sick that I couldn't swallow was when I had my tonsils out 17 years ago. This was horrible. Luckily I am on day 4 of antibiotics and I am feeling like myself again!

Here's Pitty Pat and his sympathetic self. You can see he is taking FULL advantage of the 24 hour sleeping I was doing.Yes, that is a candy cane he is sleeping on. Right now, that is his favorite toy of choice.

The other thing that helped my quick recovery was BRUSTER'S! The day I had to get antibiotics they just happened to make a batch of Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream! Since my Bruster's is right by my Walgreens, I had to make a stop. This felt SOOOO good on my throat. And, made me think of summer! But mostly, I was just sooo happy to have something that I could actually swallow!

Before the almighty sickness invaded my body, I had been doing lots of quick knitting. Spring WAS in the air a few weeks ago (AND is rumored to return this week), so I have been knitting up some light spring scarves from my stash. On the right you can see the finished Owl Cowl. I still need to sew on the buttons. But. Ahem. I've been busy. :)

I've been knitting the spring scarves on size 17 needles and boy are they an instant gratification knit! I have another one I am working on right now that is purple AND sparkly. Yeah baby!

The Ceasar the CR-V drama is still unfolding. He is going to have to be traded. The scenario we have worked out is that Mom is going to visit next weekend. We are going to be trading Ceasar in for a new car for Mom and I am going to inherit her Kia. I went and test drove some cars for her yesterday, and why did I not know how much better Toyota drives than a Honda? I drove a Prius yesterday and LOVED it. I also have a crush on its 51 mpg's! So we will see what Mom likes and wants. I just want a car that does not cost $900 every month and a half for repair and won't stop in the middle of an intersection!

Anyhoo, I am off to enjoy the sunshine we are having today. Poor Pitty Pat, while I was sick, he didn't get his daily walks in. I am trying to make that up to him!

HIBERNATION

Hey Y'all,

Well, after losing Zoe a few weeks ago, Pitty Pat and I have gone into hibernation. We have had about two days of sunshine in two weeks, so we have been taking it easy.

Last week was crazy and just awful. Ceasar the CR-V is acting up again and we have reached the point where it is no longer financially smart to keep him around. I am sad because I LOVE my car, just not the $900 maintenance problems he likes to give me. At this point I don't know if I am going to give him to Mom to trade in so she can get a new car and I will inherit her Kia or if I will trade him in and see what I end up with. Who knows. I just hope he keeps going long enough until we can get this sorted out. I went out today and scouted out a few options. I like to go on Sundays because all of the dealerships are closed and no one will bother you while you are looking!

I made a visit to MUSC last week to see about what could be causing my vertigo. The ENT staff was great and they ran some vestibular tests on me. Everything came back in the normal range, so they think that most likely the vertigo is related to migraine issues. I do have migraines and I never really thought that vertigo and migraines go together. But, apparently they do! They suggested that I go on a daily migraine medicine to maybe ward off the bad dizzy spells. I plan on checking in with my regular doc tomorrow to see what she recommends.

While I was out on Thursday, my class had a sub. To say that they were horrible would be putting it lightly. We had a big COME TO JESUS meeting on Friday. I even wrote 4 students up. And I never write students up! But, their behavior was really uncalled for. So I had no choice. I came home really disheartened on Friday and y'all.. I am wondering how much longer I can teach! But with the state of the economy, I don't really have much of a choice. Here's hoping once the sun comes back and the weather warms up, I will start to feel differently! 5 straight days of indoor recess can make you a bit looney.

Since Saturday (yesterday) was a cold, rainy day, I went back into school to get my room straightened up and to get ahead on some copying and organizing. I got a lot done and feel alot better about the next few weeks. We have 77 more days left in the school year. Dear God, I hope I make it!

While Pitty Pat and I have been in hibernation I have been knitting. LOTS! Nothing really, just some pretty and light spring scarves. I can usually knit one up in a night and it is nice to wear them to school. They remind me of what is to come! I will post some pics later on this week. I also have a new recipe for 1 serving Apple Crisp to share. This is a treat that will make you think of summer days and the beach.

I am off to get ready for tomorrow. It's supposed to rain. Again. I am so ready for spring.
