Currently :)

Hey Y'all!

It is the beginning of the month and Farley has up Currently for April. Here's mine!

The last one is on advice..... we've heard all the tried and true ones. This year I turned 40 and a wee bit of wisdom came with it. EVERYBODY needs a day to be lazy. Now my lazy may be get up, take a shower and put on a clean pair of jammies for the rest of the day.. your lazy can be a little different. But never underestimate how a day of lazy can make you feel better! Also, a good cup of coffee can do wonders too!

Anyhoo, I don't have a lot going on today. I am trying to decide if I want to drive down to one of my favorite consignment stores or not. Taking a day to be lazy doesn't sound like a bad idea right now! I ran a bunch of errands yesterday, so really I can chillax until Thursday when I have to drive to Charleston for a doctor's appointment with the tummy doc. It is just nice to have a day without plans! Even if it is a chilly day!

I hope y 'all have a great day!

Currently and Movie Reviews!

Hey Y'all!

Two posts this week! I am on a roll! Hee, hee!

This past weekend I got a nice surprise in my mailbox. Every now and then my cable company sends out coupons for free movies to watch On Demand. This is a really nice treat. This past weekend I ran some errands, caught up on the laundry, finished a few knitting projects and then snuggled up with Pitty Pat and caught up on some movies that I haven't had a chance to see. The first movie I watched was the remake of Red Dawn. This movie was very entertaining and a wee bit hard to watch, given the current situation with North Korea. Overall, it was a very entertaining movie, but I am glad that I watched it for free. I give it a B-. The first Red Dawn will always remain a favorite with me! The second movie I watched was Playing for Keeps. This was an entertaining movie as well, but it was not very deep or funny for that matter. I am just glad that I didn't spend that hour in a half in a movie theatre. I give that one a C+. It wasn't terrible, but it could have been a little better. I am really looking forward to this weekend because it looks as if the really good movies are getting ready to hit the big screen. I can't wait to check out Olympus Has Fallen (SQUEEE! Action! Adventure!) and Admission with Tina Fey. They both look great and they are on the agenda for this weekend's entertainment! :) I'll do a review on both when I see them!

On the knitting front I am working on a cowl and trying to get it finished before the weekend. Our warm, balmy weather has disappeared and we are back to the cold, dreary winter. The next few nights are supposed to be BELOW freezing. That is not what I want to hear or feel. I really want to swap out my winter clothes for my colorful spring and summer clothes! I guess I will have to wait a few weeks on that! Also. I am currently obsessed with wanting to knit this sweater. I am not sure if I am brave enough to do it. But, I am pondering it! I bought the pattern..... :)

I also finished the 8th book in Maggie Sefton's knitting series. I need to slow down! I only have two more left. :)

And finally, only 20 days late.. here is this month's Currently thanks to Farley.

Yes, you read that right. I have lost my mind and signed up for a graduate class this summer. I have another one I need to take, but I am not sure that is in the budget for this summer. But. I will be taking a class in Summer 1. Lord. Help. Me! Also the last three... what do you like right now... I have an awesome new pair of Orthaheel flippies for the Spring/Summer... I am loving my LIME GREEN new Adirondack chair I got for my back patio on Sunday AND I am HATING that the COLD weather has come back for a visit.

So that is what is going on here. I am off to take a bath and chillax with some hot cocoa. Thank goodness tomorrow is Thursday!

Back to School Tears, Currently, and a NEW BLOG!

Hey Y'all!

Can you BELIEVE that it is August 3rd? I am in complete denial. That and I have been battling a horrible case of food poisoning. Last weekend I didn't leave my sofa for FOUR days! I couldn't eat solid food until yesterday. Y'all. It was not pretty around here!

While technically I don't go back to work until Tuesday, August 14th, I have to go back even sooner. Monday I am going in for a little while to get my furniture moved in my classroom. I will probably go back in on Tuesday to do some more unpacking. I am also getting my hair cut and colored on Monday. It is so long and needs to be colored. I haven't had my hair done since Memorial Day! Then next Friday the 10th, I have to go to ipad training! That's the silver lining on the clouds! The following Monday, the 13th, I have another training session to go to as well. At least I am going with one of my good work friends. That should make it a little bit more fun!

Don't get me wrong, I love working with my students. But it is A LOT of work to get up and running. And it feels like you are getting the life sucked out of you at times. So, that is why there are tears at the beginning of school. That and we are getting about 3 emails a day with stuff that we are going to have to do when we go back. I AM SO NOT READY!

I have also really enjoyed being home this summer and hanging with Pitty Pat. I miss him so much when I am at school!

Like me, Farley is still out for now! She posted this month's Currently today, so here's mine!

Also. I may have developed a new hobby. :) A few weeks ago, I blogged about visiting consignment stores while I was visiting Mom. It really all started with a clothing sale her church had while I was in town. I got several new pieces of clothes for school for under $40. Since I have gotten home, I have continued "thrifting." I have gotten some great things for my wardrobe at FANTASTIC prices. I end up calling Mom every night to share my "thrift deals" of the day. And she always wants pictures. So I decided to start a blog, called JustJulia's Thrifty Finds! If you have visited my blog in the past few days, you might have noticed that I have already added a link to the blog. This is not going to replace this blog, I just didn't want my thrifting deals to have to compete with the cooking, crafting and knitting! And, once school starts, my thrifting may only be limited to weekends. So it won't be updated ALL the time, but I do have some posts that I can't wait to share! The new blog, in addition to this one will also give me another outlet to be creative. And if I am going to survive this next year, I am going to need fun things to look forward to!

So that is what is going on here! I have a few books I want to finish this weekend, some knitting to work on, a celebration of a dear friend's birthday, and of course some beach time to keep me busy this weekend. I am trying to keep the "School is Starting Anxiety/Depression" away.

One more thing...........I took Pitty Pat to the vet today for his 3 year old check up! He is doing great and is very healthy. He does have to go on a diet though. :) So a few less treats for the baby.

That's what is going on here! I am off to snap some photos of today's thrifting deal!

Currently for June

Hey Y'all!

It's the first day of summer vacay and I stayed in my PJ's until 11:30! Even if I was cleaning house, I was still in my jammies! It has also been a rainy, rainy day, so it was hard to get out of my jammies!

My best friend Marie is on her way into town. We are planning dinner in Calabash tonight and then our annual walk around Callahan's of Calabash!

Last but not least, I present you with this month's Currently! If you want your own... visit Farley's site! I now have a link to her page on the right side of the blog!
The last 3 words had to do with where do you wish you could to travel to this year, where have you been this year and where do you want to travel to this year. Here's mine! Enjoy!!

Attack of the Dizzies, Currently and SOUTHERN SAVERS!

Hey Y'all!

Sorry for the absence from the ol' blog. But. I have been busy! And. Sick. But, I am getting better so that is YAY!

The weekend before last was a great one! I ended up going to Columbia on Sat. May 5th to take a Southern Savers Coupon Workshop with my best friend Marie, her future daughter in law, Ellen, and my Mom. The funny thing is that our workshop was at Spring Valley Baptist Church and I used to live in the neighborhood right next door! This was a duplex and it was my first house that I ever bought. We drove by it before the workshop and it was still pretty much the same, except for the kiddie toys in front!

And, let me say. If you EVER get a chance to take a workshop with Jenny from Southern Savers, DO IT! It was funny, informative and I learned so much. Here we are before the workshop. The picture is blurry. My mom can't take pictures with my phone!

And, the best part. You learn how to get toothpaste for fee. Drugstores are your friend! :)

While we were in Columbia for the day, we made a stop at the Shops at Sandhill. It was great to be in a big city and get some shopping in! I was able to pick out an early Mother's Day gift from Pitty Pat.. a new Vera Bradley set. I just love Vera Bradley and it was fun to be amongst the goods!

We ended the weekend by celebrating my Grandaddy's 89th birthday. He is so cute!

Sadly, last Wednesday I got hit with the Vertigo Dizzy Lizzies. And, I had a field trip. It was bad folks and by the end of the day, I could hardly stand. My doc ended up putting me on steroids, an antibiotic and Valium to help with the vertigo. I am finally better today after hanging out on the sofa for the weekend and NOT driving. It was triggered by a sinus and ear infection. Life has not been fun. I have been on the tilt a whirl for a while!

And, last but not least, here is this month's Currently... only 15 days late! Check out my Beauty Pageant Title and my platform! Hee, hee!

Tired!

Hey Y'all!

Well. This weekend I set out to do a lot around the house, and I actually got it done! :) I mowed the grass, scrubbed all of my floors and baseboards, switched out my winter and summer clothes, did a ton of laundry, organized cabinets, and managed to do two crafts! It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that when it was time to rise and shine this morning, I couldn't move. Really couldn't move. To say I "overdid" it this weekend would be an understatement. :) But, I had the idea in my head that if I got my "to do" list done this weekend, then I wouldn't have to do it over spring break! YAY!

One craft that I worked on this weekend was a Chunky Mochi Baby Hat by Susan B. Anderson. I knit these a lot for baby showers, because they only take a few hours from start to finish. The mom to be is a teacher at my school and she requested the color green. So there you go!

I also created a wreath using Fun Fur yarn and some ribbon daisies! I got the idea off of Pinterest.  It came out very cute, and I will have step by step directions up tomorrow. I am not feeling great tonight... my tummy has really been bothering me today. I don't think it is a virus, but rather something I ate that is not sitting well with the ol' Crohn's.

Lastly, (ha, ha... I taught the suffix -ly at school today, so I had to use it! ) It is the beginning of the month and Miss Farley has up the Currently meme for April. I love the choice of super power on this one! I would totally want the super power to stop time! Oh yes! Click to make mine bigger.

If you want to make one yourself... visit Miss Farley's site and then click HERE for directions on how to upload it. It takes about 5 minutes and these are really fun to do!

Well, let me run. I have a TON of Castle episodes to catch up on. I know. I can't believe I am behind on one of my favorite shows! I need to go and drink some ginger ale and chill!

Currently, Heart Update, and Chillaxin'

Hey Y'all!

Whew. It took me a few days to recover from Girls Weekend Spring Palooza! That and the fact that I am having to give up ALL caffeine, (which is kicking me in the BOO-TAY) I am plum tuckered. :)

So. Let me bring y'all up to date! :)

I went to the doc last Friday. They had the results from HAL the Heart Monitor. He did record some "events" but they think these heart palps are tied to an anemia disorder that I was born with. And, I have a really fast heart rate. Because I stay so anemic (and there's really nothing they can do) my heart beats fast to keep up with my low blood supply. So when I get stressed, upset, worried, or work out a lot, it makes my heart work really hard, resulting in my heart palps. The doc told me I needed to cut all caffeine (yup. That's just terrible. I am still having 1 cup of coffee until school gets out. I won't make it if  I don't!) I have to cut back on Zumba. I need to meditate. Do some yoga. And. I have to take it easy and rest when I feel tired. I go back right after school gets out to get more bloodwork done and see where we stand. If these changes don't help, they want to put me on a beta blocker to slow down my heart rate. I think I will pass on that one and make these changes! So. There ya go. I had a rough night Friday night, but I spent the day running around to get ready for the girls. Last night I also had some, but luckily they ended around midnight. So. I guess we will see. But, the heart palps are still a pain!

Also, I have found something that I just love! Hello Hulu Plus! I have signed up for a free trial so I can catch up on my new favorite show.. Once Upon a Time. So, now when I am up and can't sleep because of my heart palps.. I can catch up on a show! Seriously, if you haven't watched Once Upon a Time, you must. It is a great blend of reality and fantasy. :)

Lastly, Miss Farley put up this month's Currently the other day. Here's mine! You can click on it to make it bigger!

The last three words have to start with the first initial of your last name. :) The first word has to be something your students would use to describe you, the second one a word the folks you work with would use and the last one is a word that your family would use to describe you. :)

I am off to watch some Hulu!
