How Can Tomorrow Be July 1st?

Hey Y'all!

Where in the world has the month of June gone? I guess I have spent mine on the computer, just not on the blog! I only have two more weeks of my Summer 1 class. It has been a lot of hard work, but I have learned lots of new things. Just this past week I had to revive my old website skills. I had to build two websites last week and create a presentation using a new presentation tool. I just LOVE to do things like that, so I really enjoyed the work. I have gotten in a routine now, so I hope once Summer 2 comes along, with TWO classes I can still continue my schedule. I have worked it so I work on classwork on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday I will work in the morning and then head to the beach in the afternoon. I try and take Saturday and Sunday off. It is good for the mental health. Because before you know it, the back to school ads will start running!

Pitty Pat has enjoyed having me home and he has fallen right in to our summer schedule. He now lets me sleep until at least 8:30. YIPPEE!! Also, by 5:00 he puts his paw down and my work for the day has to end. I do take "play" breaks and "walk" breaks with him as well. This past week has been so rainy and stormy that we have had to take quick walks in between the showers.

I am thinking of starting the FMS Photo a Day again tomorrow. I mean. It is a new month! I really enjoyed it when I did it for the few weeks in May. Hopefully tomorrow I will be back with a post! It seems to help with my blogging!

Well, we are about to get hit with another storm. Y'all stay safe!

Loving Summer.. Well, Almost!

Hey Y’all!

Well, last Monday was the first day of my graduate class that I am taking this Summer 1 semester. I honestly think that graduate professors try and kill you the first week of class so they know who is up for a challenge and who needs to drop the class! Last week was a busy one and luckily several girls that I teach with are taking this class as well. We decided that we needed to meet weekly as a study group to make sure we all understood our assignments and also for support. After our meeting last week, I felt much better about things and got busy with my work! This week is another busy workload, but I feel much better. We are designing an online class from the roots up. So this week we have to flesh out our entire syllabus and work on our actual content for two modules or sections of “our” online class. Easier said than done, I am in major work avoidance zone tonight!

It may have something to do with some fun I had last week! My bestie Marie and her family were here last week. They were camping at Lakewood Campground not too far from me. So I got to go and hang out on the beach with them! Saturday night we cooked out and I was inducted into the cult of Mexican Train Dominoes. I am now such an addict that I have to play it on my ipad! Yes, another graduate classwork distraction! Here’s a pic of Marie and I on the beach!

And, here we are playing Mexican Train Dominoes. It is a very easy and fun game to learn!

Dominoes

Since Pitty Pat gets really accustomed to having me around everyday, all day, I have to make a point to leave for a little bit everyday. If not, he gets VERY attached and has a horrible time coping when I go back to school in August. Yesterday I had a few errands to run and ended up at my favorite, The Dollar General! I found these precious towels that just had to come home with me. And, for a dollar, it they weren’t a budget breaker!

Finally, Pitty Pat gives me the paw when he decides I have been working too hard. Yesterday he sat in my lap and literally batted away my textbook I was reading for my class. Yup. He’s a pretty smart guy! He knows when his Mama needs a break!

Pitty No More Study

With all of this classwork going on, I haven’t gotten in much knitting. But I do have a few easy scarves that I want to work on. At night, I just want to watch a cute movie and chill. So mindless knitting fits the bill!

I hope y’all are doing well!

Currently, A Movie Review and What I Have Been Up To!

Hey Y’all!

Well, school is finally over for the 2012-2013 school year. I had to go and work last Friday for a few hours, but then I was FREE. I took a few days to just read, relax and chill. Today I started my first of three graduate classes. And. Gulp. This summer is going to be busy.

Today I took a time out, after I did all of this week’s class reading, of course! I went to see the movie Now You See Me… it was very good and kept me guessing all the way through. If you are one of those folks that can see what is going to happen a mile away, this movie will be very interesting to you. It as very well done and very enjoyable. Go see it!

I have been very busy with the end of school and getting several knitting orders done. I don’t know if it is the weather or me finally coming off of the prednisone, but the joints in my hands have been killing me . So after packing up my room, I really haven’t felt like knitting. I have been doing a lot of reading! My library finally got with this century and decided to do an e book checkout. You can checkout two books at a time and keep them on your device (nook, Kindle, ipad, etc.) for 10 days. I have probably read about 8 books in the past two weeks. It is so great! And, the books are new ones, not ancient ones. I have updated my sidebar with “Reads from the Beach Chair” so you can see what I am reading!

Just in case you watch the weather as much as I do.. you saw that we had this little event last Friday….We had a visit from Tropical Storm Andrea.

Tropical Storm Warning

We had mainly rain and little or no damage. I just hope that this doesn’t set the trend for the rest of the storms this year!

I have also been busy making pies! I had a baby shower to attend on Saturday and my Black Bottom Strawberry Pie was requested. The strawberries were so sweet. It was a darn good pie if I say so myself! I made this one on the fly… I didn’t use my own pie crust. But even with a graham cracker crust, it was yummy!

Stawberry Pie

I have also not lost my “thrifting” ways! Since I am taking 3 graduate classes this summer, I really needed to set up a place to work. I had my laptop on my baker’s rack in my dining room, but really, it was not a comfortable place to work. I went into Goodwill last week and stumbled upon a desk that is just perfect. It is light and on wheels, so it is easy for me to maneuver. So, the baker’s rack went upstairs and I now have a great space to work. Here is the desk before I moved it in the house. Excuse the messy garage. That is on the “To Do” list this summer!
New desk

It has a place for everything and a place for my printer on the bottom. So for $10 I had a mini downstairs office makeover! I am sitting here right now updating the blog on the new desk! I’ll try and get a better picture of it tomorrow.

And, last but not least, here is this month’s Currently from Farley. On the bottom you had to writ three vacation necessities… Mine are a great book, a beach and of course, it would not be a vacation unless I could bring Pitty Pat. Ahh… no vacation for me this year. Just class work! Here’s hoping we can fit in a few roadtrips!

Well, let me run.. Pitty Pat needs his last nightly walk and we are in between storms at the moment.
