Feeling a Little Bit More Like a Human!

Hey Y'all!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I got some takeout from one of my favorite restaurants, had a lovely dinner and was in bed by 8. Hey. Not bad for someone who was feeling like death on a cracker just the day before! I got some very sweet prezzies from my students and it made my day. :)

I just love tulips. Especially on Valentine's Day. I am not a rose girl. NO WAY! Sunflowers and tulips. That's how I roll!

Also, I had to give the love of my life a present. May I introduce you to Pitty Pat's new BFF.... Hedgy the Hedgehog. I am not kidding folks. He LOVES this thing! Hedgy's feet and arms are ropes. AND... Hedgy's nose fits right into Pitty Pat's mouth. Hedgy goes everywhere with Pitty Pat now. :)

So, as you can tell, my antibiotic has kicked in so I am feeling much better. My voice is back and I can breathe and not cough every 5 minutes. YAY! I still haven't gone back to Zumba yet... I am waiting until this weekend. Trust me, if you felt as bad as I did, you wouldn't want to rush things either. And guess what? I have lost 7 pounds from Zumba! Oh YES!!!! Even my kids have started to notice. Zumba rocks! AND... I get to give HAL the Heart Monitor back on Saturday. HAL has been very quiet, so I think that we are going to determine that all of this heart stuff is caused by STRESS.

Also, today I mailed off my hats for Cure International's Knit, Pray, Love hat campaign. I said a prayer that the right babies get the hats that they need. You can't go wrong knitting for a baby. It is good and brings good to others too! Here are my finished hats. I could only send 4 because I was so sick. But I have started on some more, so next year I will be more than ready! :)

The blue hat on the left is from Susan B. Anderson's book, Itty Bitty Hats. The one's with the pom poms on the top are Susan's Chunky Mochi Baby hat pattern that she co-wrote with her daughter, TC. Chunky Mochi is a divine yarn to knit a baby hat with! The striped one is my own invention. I usually call it my "ice cream" hat, but I didn't embellish it this time. I made that one preemie size.

Lastly, I have several blogs that I love to read. Some are crafty blogs and some are teaching blog. One blog I enjoy reading is written by a fourth grade teacher. Farley has an awesome blog and does and "Currently" meme every month. Here's mine for February! I love reading other folks..... so I decided to do one this month too!

Well, I've got to scoot. I have been going to bed early these days. BUT... one of my medicines has steroids in it so I am up again at 4! Pitty Pat loves it. He thinks it's party time. With Hedgy.

Doctor's Orders.......

Hey Y'all,

This is what I have been up to for the last 24 hours.

Yup. That would be bourbon in my hot tea! On Tuesday I started to have a tickle in my throat. By Thursday I was running a fever and no longer had a voice. By Friday I had a hideous cough and I was miserable. I went to see my doctor after school on Friday. I had to go to school on Friday, because there were NO subs to be found. What I thought was allergies actually turned out to be a nasty virus. The doc put me on antibiotics, cough syrup and Flonase spray for my nose. He also told me besides adding honey to my tea to add some bourbon too! I have strict orders for no talking this weekend and bed rest. I only broke out of jail once today, I had some seriously overdue library books that had to go back. And, since Starbucks was so close, I had to have my iced caramel machiatto! The rest of the time I haven't moved off of my sofa. I've gone through two boxes of tissues and I have had at least 3 things of Gatorade.  I still feel like death on a cracker, but the meds are helping alot. I am so sore in my ribs and my back from coughing. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have turned the corner. :)

In between naps I am still trying to get my hats finished to send to Cure International for the Knit, Pray, Love baby hat campaign for Afghanistan. I have until Wednesday to finish up.

Well, let me run! I feel another nap coming on!

Hats Off!

Hey Y'all!

Well, I have had a busy week since my last post. HAL is my new buddy and goes everywhere with me... well, everywhere except the shower! He is behaving and we have only had a few events to record. I will be glad when he is gone though. Waking up with electrodes on my face and almost choking myself when I change clothes is really starting to get on my nerves. I can't complain though. HAL stays quiet through Zumba (thank goodness!) and quiet at school. It seems to be at night or on my way to school when HAL gets a workout. I'll let you use your math skills and figure out what could be causing my heart palpitations. :)

Besides LOTS of Zumba (hey, I love it and it helps with the stress!) I have also had my knitting needles busy. I have made two more hats in the past week. These are for a friend of mine who just had the sweetest baby girl. My teddy bear hats are a big hit and the bunny hats are a big hit during the spring. They are both fun to make and knit up rather quickly.

I am also knitting up some hats to send to babies in Afghanistan. It is for the organization CURE and the hats are for babies around the world, especially Afghanistan. Here's a quick video on the project. I have a few more to knit, they have to be postmarked by the 15th of February. I'll post a picture of when they are done.

Y'all, it's for babies! And trust me, anyone can knit a hat!

Well, let me run. I need to feed Pitty Pat and get ready for Zumba!
